MACLYN is hiring an experienced Creative Director to bring passion, positivity, and perspective to our marketing agency.

As Creative Director, you will be responsible for leading our small but mighty creative team, while ensuring all creative work meets our high standards. Your job is to help our people, our agency, and our clients be successful.

Sound like a good gig? We’ll give you more details in a minute. But first, a little about us…

Our Story

Back in 1995, when tube socks were high fashion and the internet was something you dialed up, our founders came together and carved out a special place in the marketing universe—their very own agency.

They called it “MACLYN,” a name that combines two of their daughters’ names, Macayli and Lyndsi.

Since then, our agency’s been like a family. Through good times and tough stretches, through every disruption and trend and evolution imaginable, we’ve grown our agency, together. We didn’t always grow in terms of scale—our team’s a little bigger than we were in ’95, but not much—but we did grow by the standards that matter to us. Today, more than ever before, we know who we are and who we want to be. And that’s priceless.

So, who are we? And who do we want to be? Today, we’re an agency that puts our team’s health, well-being and happiness first, while our clients’ success is a close second. We’re anti-ego and anti-bullsh*t. We’re pro-honesty and pro-people.

No matter how our industry evolves, no matter what new technology or trends emerge—we see you, metaverse—that’s who we want to be in five years, 10 years, and even 100,000,000 years from now (assuming they still have marketing agencies 100,000,000 years from now).

If that sounds like the kind of agency you want to join, read on.

Responsibilities

As Creative Director at MACLYN, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing, motivating and mentoring a team of 5+ creative pros, including copywriters, art directors, and designers. As Creative Director, you will assign projects, organize brainstorms, manage freelancers when necessary, and review work before it’s submitted to clients.
  • Helping us build and maintain a culture where our team’s health, happiness, and well-being come first, while the success of our client’s work is a close second.
  • Leading and coordinating complex projects, like video shoots and campaign development.
  • Reviewing creative work, giving feedback, and ensuring all work meets our high standards of quality and is delivered by the deadline. While each project usually involves several members of our team, it’s ultimately your responsibility to ensure the work is done right and done on time. The buck stops with you.
  • Being the voice of your team. As CD, you will be the liaison between MACLYN’s creative team, management, colleagues from other departments, and clients. Your goal is harmony. How can you align your team’s wants and needs with the agency’s direction and our clients’ goals?
  • Mentoring your team. Our team members are looking to grow, both as people and professionals. A big part of your job will be guiding them, advocating for them, and being a good listener when they come to you with challenges and ideas. In addition to helping them grow as individuals, you will be responsible for helping the team continue to bond and develop a strong identity.

Skills and Experience

You may be a good fit for this position if you have:

  • Years of agency and/or in-house marketing experience. How many years? We aren’t too picky. We envision someone with 7+ years of experience, including several years in a leadership position, but if we find the right person with the right attitude—well, anything can happen.
  • Leadership experience. You really don’t know if you’re a good leader until you’ve been one. Tell us about your experience managing a team within or beyond the marketing world.
  • A great portfolio. We need someone who has a great eye for every aspect of creative work, from design to copy. Show us the successful creative projects—campaigns, websites, videos, brands, etc.—you’ve brought to life.
  • Strong organizational and presentation skills. You will be managing several complicated projects at once, so good communication skills are a must. You will also be expected to work closely with our clients and present creative work.
  • The invaluable ability to find calm amid the chaos. This is agency life—it gets hectic. We’re looking for a leader who can help us maintain healthy perspectives and cool heads, especially during the most stressful moments.
